Back to the festive food series, remember? When I seemed to be on a run trying out new and not so new but amazing restaurants – maybe because it was winter and my body seems to crave warm food when it’s cold. But now that it is getting a bit hotter (limitations to England, of course) it’s time for a more refreshing and spring/summer-esque pallet, and it’s time for you to try…

The Cavendish.


yTTTuWith special thanks to JPR I was given an exclusive seat to be able to attend a menu tasting at this modern brasserie bar/restaurant. It was the “Daddy of Italian Cooking“, renowned head Chef Douglas Santi that had now joined the restaurant and previewed his new signature dishes in this Marylebone neighbourhood’s favourite. And I am about to give you plenty of reasons why you should definitely stop by for a casual lunch, an evening cocktail or even a morning espresso!

Starting with the exteriors it is situated on the nice and quiet New Cavendish street, hence the name (in which a branch of the amazing Amanzi Tea is based ***blogpost coming soon) and it didn’t really pop out at first because without looking at its familiar logo post that hands above the bar entrance, it fits in well with the local facades.

But once you enter I can guarantee you will feel at home, because even though I don’t spend my times in bars (because I don’t drink) I didn’t really feel like I was in a bar, due to the way that they decorate the walls with stunning artwork and subtle additions. Even once you go upstairs into the dining area.

But then we get onto why we are really here. The food, and it just kept on coming! I tasted most of the dishes from breakfast to dinner and to the speciality dishes such as their 100 layer lasagna!

Yes – that is 100 good layers of greatness in one dish. To be honest, I am not a big fan of lasagna, but I could tell by the facial expression of Jaz (Editor of VV Magazine, who was with me me at the tasting) that it was definitely something not to be missed!

I have put the names of the dishes under the photo captions, that range from a few I took while I was there and some at other points in time, so just hover and write away! It will save you from having to look at their menu.

My personal favourite being the main of the Rib-eye Béarnaise and triple cooked chips. The way the potato chips were finished were just amazing and the ribs cooked perfectly!

I was even taken down to see their special stove, in which most of their dishes are made. It is made over a constantly burning coal grove, and me and Jaz were quite impressed.

Their top chef was able to show us all the tricks and treats for making all of these amazing delicacies and I was honoured to be able to learn some special tips from him!

As long as their amazing food they recently celebrated their 2nd anniversary and it was amazing to see familiar faces, Including Douglas Santi and the great ethos of Cavendish thriving.
