Quatro Passi London, 34 Dover St, London

Don’t you just love Italians?

“Mayfair’s Quattro Passi Re-Launches as QP LDN with the Opening of its New Late-Night Bar & Lounge” – JPR

In September 2016 by Silva International, Mayfair’s Quattro Passi, (QP) relaunched with a revamped menu and its new amazing bar and late-night lounge just underneath the restaurant – the QP Lounge. Located in the heart of Mayfair on the fashionable Dover Street next to the Victoria Beckham and Christian Louboutin boutiques, Quattro Passi originally opened its doors back in September 2014, as the sister restaurant to the two Michelin-starred Quattro Passi in Nerano, in Italy. And even with its close proximity to renowned Nobu and Novikov, it has flourished ever since it’s opening, none being like it!

I was more than honored to be able to return again after the festive season of 2016, courtesy of JPR, to see what really makes this place so special. And it made me realize that I seem to really enjoy my newly found explorations in cuisine, especially in Italian cuisine.

Arriving at its warm and inviting exterior on a Friday night (thank God Italians understand my African timing) it was strange to see no queue or sign of extreme over-crowding, given its extremely central location of Green Park, like you would usually see anywhere else around the Mayfair district in London, especially on a weekend. And it was quite refreshing to be somewhere so central yet actually desensitizes the stressful aura that London can give off at times. Arriving at the restaurant, which has an average apend of £50 to £150 per person, and food that is amalfi coast inspired, we were welcomed by the lovely staff of QP.

Fruity Dessert!

I had been here a couple of times after the opening and prior to my review – as model, agency dinners were usually held in QP before the ventures of Charlie, which is conveniently only a short walking distance away. But it was only until I had sat down in the corner of the main eating space and was able to look out into the rest of the restaurant, I realised how beautiful the interior design of  the furniture, lights and the carefully placed artwork all complimented each other. Like a harmonious whole – cheesy if you like, but nothing can really describe the kind of feeling you get inside. Accompanied by amazing good and a loved one.

The contemporary designs incorporate modern artwork including amazing wall sculptures in bold primary colours. Some luxurious features include an illuminated marble-like staircase and bar, and organic shapes and textures including hand-sculpted leather wall finishes, French silk wallpaper, and fibre optic chandelier lights made from thousands of tiny silk petals. The attention to detail is immaculate. The restaurant has been host to a variety of high-profile launch parties and events – such as Italian fashion designer Valentino’s book launch party – and is an ideal venue for celebrating special occasions including weddings, receptions, anniversaries, business lunches and corporate events. And it doesn’t end there – QP X LDN can accommodate 100 people seated and 160 standing, with diners being able to enjoy al fresco dining, socializing and smoking on the outdoor sidewalk terrace whilst watching fashionable pedestrians stroll by with their latest purchases from the local high-end Dover Street boutiques. Now that is what I call an efficient space.

Oh, how I love interiors ❤

“The restaurant has been showed much loved by royals and celebrities alike including Prince Andrew, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Kofi Annan, Valentino, Kylie Minogue, Hugh Grant and Anne Hathaway.”

QP X LDN is under the culinary direction of two Michelin-starred Italian chef Antonio Mellino and his two sons Raffaele and Fabrizio, staying true to its roots in Amalfi coast inspired cooking.

Mellino is the chef owner of Quattro Passi in Nerano, who received recognition and praise for his artisanal freshly-made pasta and simple seafood dishes. Mellino is considered to be a master in pasta making, and his freshly-made then dried pastas will continue to be made on premises by the QP LDN kitchen staff. Meet some of the people who create the food that makes QP such a success:

With fresh, high-quality ingredients flown in daily from Italy, and perfectly executed simple dishes inspired by the signature flavours of Southern Italy, the restaurant has quickly gained a reputation as one of London’s top Italian restaurants. The re-launch enabled the allowance of a revised menu presenting more affordable menu options, sharing plates and new healthier dishes and gluten-free pasta options, whilst still maintaining the high-level of service, which I must say is immaculate. We never even had to call or ask for the waiter because it was like they could understand when and what we needed, maybe it’s the Italian traditions.

I just realised that Quatro Passi means Quarter Past…

Discovering my menu favourites required me indulge in pretty much everything (not using that as an excuse) and it’s hard to resist, not only did the presentation blow me away – but the aroma and smells of all the different types of foods was amazing. Even the simple starter delicacies tasted so incredible, and the condiments of bread was so good that before my Pumpkin soup starter had the chance to arrive I was already starting to feel full from the in-house selection of breads.

“This is the best bread I have ever had.” – R.E.

unadjustednonraw_thumb_6e9e“Menu highlights include Risotto Con Scampi E Pesche (langoustines risotto with peach), Gnocchi Con Gamberi, Pomodorini E Rucola (gnocchi with prawns, cherry tomato and rocket), Capesante Su Salsa Di Aglio Selvatico E Rapa Rossa (scallops with cream of wild garlic and beetroot), and a selection of fresh fish flown in daily from the Mediterranean including Di Zucchine E Salsa Mediterranea (fillet of line caught Sea Bass with Zucchini cream and Mediterranean sauce), and Misto Crudo Di Pesce for two persons (a visually stunning mixed seafood platter beautifully presented on dry ice).”

For dessert the restaurant is renowned for its signature Gelato Al Pistacchio, freshly made Pistachio ice cream made in-house using Sicilian Bronte pistachios – an essential ingredient in many Italian delicacies. Unfortunately due to my dislike of nuts I did not try its delicacy and stuck to my safe ice-cream but for those of you who don’t suffer skin attacks from any sign of nuts, it is definitely worth a try!

Also, the great thing is that all pasta dishes can be substituted with gluten-free pasta options – allowing of the wide varieties of eaters in London to enjoy the QP experience a swell. A variety of super food salads have also been introduced to the menu including Insalata Di Quinoa, Melograno E Verdure Croccanti (quinoa salad with pomegranate and mixed vegetables), and Insalata Di Rapa Rossa, Formaggio Di Capra E Ceci (beetroot and goat cheese salad with chickpeas).

Although my main experience took place in the restaurant, beneath us was the QP Lounge, (open Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30pm until 1am) that celebrates the glamorous Dolce Vita lifestyle incorporating stylish Italian elements throughout the venue, including Italian made glassware, a long illuminated bar, glass wine room, stylish Italian cinematic artwork and colourful contemporary seating.  The bar is an ideal venue for those looking to relax with a cocktail in a chic setting whilst enjoying an eclectic programme of live entertainment and internationally renowned DJs. It is ideal to eat and socialise upstairs, and then enjoy a more informal gathering at the lounge.
Enjoy the bar experience:

***Opening Hours: Lunch 12pm to 3pm; Dinner 6:30pm to 10:30pm

So if you have not been already – or if after reading this you don’t have the urge to be there right now then I suggest you (firstly, check and make sure everything is alright. Because if you see the food that I am seeing and still don’t have an interest to go to QP then something might be wrong) head on over and make your reservations as soon as possible. Before the word gets out on the streets and you have to call days in advance just to get a seat – and I see that happening very soon.

What are you waiting for?

Thank you, JPR
